Definition of Self Confidence
Knowing who you are – name, ethnicity, family background.
Knowing what you stand for – values, principles, standards, acting with integrity.
Knowing what you want – passions, goals, desires, vision, mission, how you want to be remembered, what impression you want to leave with others.
Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence
Frances felt insecure, that she wasn’t “good enough” and she had a lot of self-doubt. She would often second-guess herself in making decisions and worry about what she should do next. Frances would often perceive negative comments and actions towards her as being intentional or on purpose, feeling hurt and angry during the process.
She realized after many years, in looking back at those times, that she had lower self-esteem than she does now. Like many people very often, Frances sometimes was concerned about what other people thought about her and what she was doing.
The “AHA” Moment
One day, Frances became more aware that most people are not thinking about her or about what she is doing.
In the end, the best decisions are made based on what she want for herself, in terms of pursuing her passions, goals and desires.
Frances realized it was best to please herself and to only consider the feelings of those whom she loves and respects the most in her life.
Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence
It’s like a weight was lifted off of Frances’ shoulders as she could also feel relieved that she didn’t have to be “perfect” to be loved, which is what she believed when she was growing up, partially due to her upbringing.
The One Self Confidence Tip For the Listener
It’s a constant and daily challenge to stay focused on positive self-talk and what Frances calls “mental discipline”.
That is, telling yourself, whether in your thoughts or spoken out loud, positive affirmations to reinforce your self-esteem, self-worth and identity.
