Favorite Self Confidence Quote

If you’re going to dream, dream big. Don’t let the world’s skepticism stop you from dreaming. Eliminate the word “But” from your mind.

Definition of Self Confidence

Self confidence to is knowing your strengths and being proud of them, not looking at someone else’s and wishing you had those. Yet at the same time being brave enough to be vulnerable and open about your weaknesses, instead of hiding them and hoping no one would find out for fear of being judged.

Self confidence to is not how one looks on the outside, but it is believing in yourself deep down inside, and knowing that you are enough.

Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence

Despite being a leader since Ee Ling’s schooling days, she used to always feel self-conscious.  She was worried she was being too bossy, too controlling, too demanding, too much of a perfectionist.  She suffered in school, feeling that she wasn’t liked.

During her banking days, she always attributed her success to luck. She felt blessed, for the opportunities that she had been given, and she didn’t really dare take credit.

After Ee Ling quit to start up Smarter Me, she then met with another wave of insecurities.  She had never planned on being an entrepreneur. Since young, she has proclaimed that she is just book smart, and she is not street smart. And right before and even after, she wasn’t comfortable even calling herself an entrepreneur.  She felt like a fraud, an imposter.

The “AHA” Moment

Ee Ling had 2 AHA moments.  The first was when someone alluded to her success in banking being due to her being close to her boss and her being one of the rare women in finance. It made her realize that, no matter how hard she works to get to where she is, there will always be naysayers – and she has to be the one believing in herself.

Her second AHA moment is her little girl. She’s smart, witty but lacks self confidence. And the spurred her on 2 parts, one is that she felt that if she wasn’t even confident about herself and how could she help her daughter.

Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence

Ee Ling  is able to bounce back better from challenges.   She is still on a learning journey herself and she is still not 100% confident all the time.  She has to hype up things and self-motivate.

But she is more in control now, and she is much more open about her fears and concerns, about herself, with others

The One Self Confidence Tip For the Listener

Identify what makes you lose confidence in yourself – what makes you self-doubt, what makes you jealous or feel inferior, and then remove those from your life. Instagram / twitter / LinkedIn / toxic people.

At the same time, identify your own strengths, truly understand and embrace them, and hone them. Don’t try to be someone you’re not.
