Definition of Self Confidence

Self-confidence is tied to self-love, self-acceptance, and belief in yourself. If you believe in yourself and your passions, then self-confidence will come. Also, it is very important to love and accept yourself for who you are—both your strengths and weaknesses. Accept your flaws as a part of who you are.

Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence

Amy has always been a perfectionist. It was holding her back, because she couldn’t accept herself for who she was, and she couldn’t accept her flaws. She had to be perfect. Amy didn’t learn to love herself until recently, which led to her discovery of self-confidence.

The “AHA” Moment

There is no one “AHA” moment, Amy would say, because the discovery of self-confidence is a long-term journey, an on-going process. It is different for everyone. It took daily practice of re-framing negative thinking to positive thoughts. She used to beat herself up over any and all mistakes, and have little to no room for forgiveness of herself.

It was a hard place to be. Amy’s self-esteem suffered. With time, she learned to love herself, treat herself better, and to really forgive herself of mistakes, because nobody is perfect. Achieving perfection in every aspect of her life is simply unrealistic.

Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence

Amy is much happier. It is still an ongoing journey but she has learned that the key to self-confidence is self-love, self-acceptance, and self-forgiveness- -to let go of perfection, and to forgive her mistakes.

The One Self Confidence Tip For the Listener

Amy would say common themes in women of many societies are blame, guilt, and shame. She believes that this has served to lower many women’s self-esteem. As a whole, women say “sorry” more often, deducing that it is their fault. Amy would give the advice and challenge for women on their own journey to self-confidence to practice forgiving themselves of their mistakes, accepting themselves for who they are, and loving themselves. Imagine themselves as a their younger selves, give them a big hug, and tell them that everything is going to be OK.
