Definition of Self Confidence
The ability to laugh, cry, forgive, accept and love all of who I am.
Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence
Johnelle’s life was filled with a lot of doingness. Although she grew up in the self awareness industry because her mom exposed her to seminars and workshops, she didnʻt really think about “her self confidence.” She just did what needed to get done at the moment in every day life, without any introspectiveness.
The “AHA” Moment
While dating her now husband, Bruce, they were at a car dealership getting ready to purchase a car for Johnelle. They were in the office where they take you to negotiate the contract. The sales person needed Johnelle’s employment history.
At that time, although she had not realized her pattern that she hasnʻt held down a job for more than 2 years at a time. She gave him her current job position and he asked, “where did you work before that and for how long?” She answered, and he said, “well that wonʻt work, what about before that?” and she answered again he said “that wonʻt work, what about before that?” she answered and again he said “that wonʻt work.”
As he stood up rather irritated with Johnelle’s answers he said he needed to talk to his manager and left the room. She felt so defeated and tears started to run down hhher face. With her head low, Bruce took my face in his hands and said “look at me.” she struggled to look into his eyes at which point he said, “stop crying, your job is what you DO it isnʻt in any way who you are.”
Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence
Johnelle’s life is still a lot of doing, and yes things need to get done, but she is more aware of how she shows up. She thinks by being mindful of who she is and the energy that she brings with her where ever she goes, she is certainly enjoying life more.
Because of this she feels more in “control of her life” and she’s more forgiving and understanding of herself. Johnelle loves herself more, and more forgiving of herself, and in turn other people. The reminder of the principle of Be-Do-Have instead of Do-Have-Be is more prevalent in her every day living.
