Emily Wu Truong is an award-winning motivational speaker in Los Angeles, who works tirelessly to address the misconceptions of individuals who struggle with mental illness. As a suicide-attempt survivor diagnosed with depression and anxiety, she transformed her adversities into wisdom, inspiring others to face their fears and find value in their own life struggles. As a mental advocate, she uses her voice to advocate for children in communities of color whose voices are often under-represented. She also collaborates with other organizations to create safe spaces to encourage informative discussions on equipping community advocates with the resources they need to improve the quality of life in their communities.
Emily suffered from low self esteem and didn’t believe in herself. She will share constantly pushing herself to step out of her comfort zone led her to be the successful motivational speaker that she is today.

Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence
Emily had low self-esteem. I didn’t believe in myself. She could not fake it until she made it. However she felt that her heart showed up on her face. For many years, she believed in self-limitings thoughts that she was stupid, slow and not worthy.
The “AHA” Moment
Emily pushed herself by participating in pageants, government events, and non traditional training. She was proud of herself for joining these different events which boosted her confidence.
Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence
After 3.5 years doing mental health advocacy, Emily is now an internationally recognized motivational speaker for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. She has organized four community mental health conferences and has had over 100 speaking engagements in her life time.
