Elaine Espinola is a television producer and host, speaker, spokesperson, podcaster and Mrs. DC America 2015. During her reign, A Semester At Sea With Elaine EspinolaElaine promoted the platform, Empowerment for Women through Entrepreneurship and she continues to advocate on behalf of small businesses and for the empowerment and women and girls everywhere.  The television show, Capital Connect is lifestyle television show featuring Producer and Host, Elaine Espinola interviewing local experts around our nation’s capital on a variety of trending topics. Capital Connect inspires, entertains and empowers it’s audience with information that encourages conversation, connection and community.  As the national podcast Host for the Better Business Bureau, Elaine interviews elite entrepreneurs and organizational founders on the latest trending consumer topics on a channel called The Bistro.  Elaine is a spokesperson for the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative and a trained speaker for the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force. She is also an Advisory Board Member for the non-profit, Touching Heart, which teaches children the joy of giving.

Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence

Elaine was more reserved as a child and as a teen.  It was a challenge being ethnically different and she didn’t recognize the power of her uniqueness and her voice.

The “AHA” Moment

Joanne traveled the world during a study abroad program in college called Semester at Sea. She saw herself in others in so many different countries as a woman and as a women of color.  She saw beauty in diversity and strength in herself as a young woman navigating through the world.  She started relying on her own instincts for safety, adventure, camaraderie and survival and she focused to thrive in it.

Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence

Joanne feels empowered. There is nothing she can’t accomplish, there is no person she can’t connect to, there is no person above her and vice versa.  She has gradually come to realize it is her passion to use her voice for those that can’t, those that are marginalized, or have experienced adversity or discrimination.

The One Self Confidence Tip For the Listener

Trust yourself. Trust your instincts, follow your passions and never let anyone tell you that you can’t be or do exactly, whatever you want.
