If it doesn’t evolve me, it doesn’t involve me.
Definition of Self Confidence
Self-confidence is knowing your value and never settling for anything less than what you know you deserve. It’s also having no fear, even if it means potentially failing or experiencing rejection or throwing yourself into situations way beyond your comfort zone.
Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence
For most of Adelle’s childhood and teenage-dom, she was painfully shy to the point where teachers would criticize her for lack of participation in progress reports. It wasn’t because she didn’t know the material being taught but she didn’t want to be embarrassed if she sounded silly or said the wrong answer in front of her classmates.
The “AHA” Moment
When Adelle was a junior in high school, she tried to pursue a career in music as a singer and volunteered to perform at different talent shows or events that her school would organize. She started becoming friends with people outside of her inner circle and loved learning about different cultures. Then when she was a sophomore in college, Barack Obama’s first inauguration made her change her major from psychology to mass communications and from that moment on, she became relentless when it came to just going for any and every opportunity she found. Attaching passion to purpose is her defense against self-doubt.
Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence
Now, Adelle is definitely the one who always has a comment about everything in meetings. She stands up for things when something doesn’t feel right in her spirit and it’s a lot easier for her to do her job, especially given the people she interviews or networks with. She tries to be that person who always pushes the people around her to be better, whether it’s telling her colleagues to drink more water or to work out, especially because of a company she co-founded with her best friend called her sweat. Adelle is very mindful of the things she says in-person or online because she never wants to be associated with any negativity. Of course, she has her slip-ups because no one’s perfect but when you own your mistakes and realize that every loss is a lesson, it breeds motivation to win more.
The One Self Confidence Tip For the Listener
To be honest, the journey never ends. Whether it’s asking someone out or for a raise at work, us women are always trying to find the guts to demand the most out of life. My advice is to operate from a place of love, especially self-love. It’s so easy to get caught up in the optics of what a popping life should look like because of social media but the real goal is to give yourself that validation. When you realize your own glow, that light attracts more blessings.
