Being unique and standing out.
Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence
Lisa hated her own ethnicity. It’s something she couldn’t get away from but every day people are trying, which is why she thinks plastic surgery is so popular in Asia.
The “AHA” Moment
Global Travel for work: Prior to being promoted to GE’s Corporate Audit Staff, Lisa had pretty much spent her entire life in small towns, surrounded by people who felt the white, all-American look was beautiful. In fact, she only dated minorities: Hispanic and black because being minorities themselves, they never judged, never made fun of her and never compared her to white girls.
However, once she started traveling internationally, it was like she became a movie star overnight. There were men literally throwing themselves at her left and right. Suddenly, she was the most beautiful person in the room. She is definitely not advocating the need for external validation in order to confident but hearing another perspective did a lot to change the way she looked at herself. The slanted eyes she was always trying to make look more round and the long black hair that she was always coloring blond were now assets and special. She didn’t hate them anymore.
Her Life After the Discovery of Self Confidence
Lisa is more confident and worries less about the way she looks. She loves the skin she is in and is proud of her ethnicity.
