261: Accept Yourself With Angie Kim

Angie Kim is a Korean-American actress whose desire is to break barriers for Asians in the entertainment industry.  Her first Accept Yourself With Angie Kimintroduction to the spotlight was through hosting her own radio talk show. Having a greater desire to showcase not just her voice, she decided to compete in global pageants such as Miss Asia USA and Miss Korea.  Even with success in these areas, she longed to express herself beyond the limits of appearance and began her pursuit as an actress.  Despite not having acting experience, casting directors were quick to see her genuine and uplifting personality shine through, which ultimately landed her first role as lead female actress alongside Ken Jeong and Eric Roberts in the film K-Town Cowboys (Release Date: 2015).  With recent productions, working with HBO and actors such as Ernie Hudson and Rob Schneider, she is on her way to become one of the breakout actresses in the Asian American community and be the pioneer for Asian Americans in the entertainment industry.

It was difficult for Angie to accept herself since she was not confident in herself.  When Angie’s mother decided to enter her into a beauty pageant, that was when she learned to fully express her true self and be okay with being more of herself.  Listen to this episode as Angie shares her story.
