498: Live Authentically With Marsha Aizumi

Marsha Aizumi is an author, national speaker, educator and advocate for the LGBT community. She serves on the National Board Live Authentically With Marsha Aizumiof Directors for PFLAG and is on the Parents for Transgender Equality Council for HRC. Marsha is co-founder and current President of PFLAG San Gabriel Valley Asian Pacific Islander. She is author of Two Spirits, One Heart, a memoir that chronicles her journey from fear, shame and sadness to unconditional love and acceptance as she and a Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles Angel of Change Ally.ha has received honors from Congresswoman Judy Chu as a Community Activist, Logo TV as Trailblazer Parent for 2015 and a Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles Angel of Change Ally.
 
Marsha shares how her transgender son helped her boost her own confidence and to live a more authentic life.  She also shares tips on how you can live more authentically in your own life.

Self-confidence is to be scared but to do it anyway, because your trust that no matter what you do, whether right or wrong, you will make it right. It is not making rash decisions, but asking enough questions to feel good about the direction you are taking.

Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence

Marsha held back alot since her parents were in concentration camps during World War II.  Her parents raised to not stand out.  Because of that Marsha never wanted to make any noise or offend anyone.

The “AHA” Moment

When Marsha’s son decided to become transgender is where she found her voice and her confidence grew.  She wants to make a safer place for her son.

Marsha realized her son has alot of wisdom and help her get through her own struggles.  She learns alot from her son.
