Favorite Self Confidence Quote

I figured out it was a social thing, what women were allowed to do. At a very young age, I decided I was not going to follow women’s rules.

Definition of Self Confidence

Self-confidence is about being real with yourself. Self-confidence for the sake of self-confidence is meaningless. If you can’t be real and truthful to yourself, accepting and trying to uncover your flaws, you’re never going to be emphatic and compassionate, with yourself or others, which makes you insecure and ultimately lacking self-confidence. Once you recognise you are an imperfect being, trying your best, like the rest of the planet or Universe, your self-confidence increases but your self-confidence doesn’t come with arrogance. It comes with humility.

Her Life Before the Discovery of Self Confidence

Persis thought she was quite a geek and nerd growing up and still is. However, being a creative person was her outlet.

It gave her confidence. Initially, she used my writing voice to ‘speak for her’ and that was sense of self-confidence – on paper – you could say. She really hated public speaking even though people told me I was very articulate on stage or in front of people.

The “AHA” Moment

Persis had two big AHA moments – First was in her early 30s when she had a very devastating personal experience where she had to learn how to love herself. Like really learn how to love herself and figure out why she had put herself in a situation where she was not respected and taken for granted. It taught her to really put my emotional needs first and to gain a new perspective on life.

The second big AHA moment was when her grandmother passed away quite some time back and she realised how short life was and began to realise that as of now, you only live once and how important it was to make each day count.

The One Self Confidence Tip For the Listener

Start doing inner work first. Explore your strengths and weaknesses through journalling – accept them and be true to yourself. Then be pro-active and find ways to conquer your immediate fears and insecurities, since it’s all in your mind anyway and nobody is ‘out to get you’. Seek opportunities to better yourself, whether it’s at your career or on your personal goals. The more you put yourself in uncomfortable situations, the more your self-confidence will grow.
